Hello out there! So, I sang at an anniversary party on Saturday. A 65th Anniversary party, mind you. I don't know anybody (personally) that has made it that far! What's the secret? Good music? Lots of love? Good sex? A good mediator? This was my first anniversary party and I have to say, it was a good experience, but the crowd was pretty dead. I sang on a beautiful stage, in a beautiful back yard in the heart of Murietta, CA. WTF? Where tf is that? 2 hours and too many minutes away from ma maison. GAH! Between the "stage" and the guests was a pool. A beautiful pool it was, but it took me several feet away from my victims, I mean, audience. They were lost in the dark. I sang two good sets, the first of which was comprised of Hawaiian love songs, but most of the applause came from my accompanist, when he was listening, and a few loyal fans. I'm glad that I love singing as much as I do, or else my ego would be crushed by the lack of "go Liz, go!" enthusiasm in the crowd. None the less, I muddled through. Between the wind nearly blowing over my music stand and the chord laiden papers of the piano player, who misread several chords, we did just fine. Accompanied on drums by his son, I sang a bunch of 40s, 50s, and early 60s ("modern") tunes. Hoping to impress the crowd, I spat off the knowledge I had of the music of that time. They seemed uninterested and unimpressed. All in all, I got a compliment from the man of the house, a hug from a fan, and a check from the event planner. It's not all about the money, though. Singing is about love and more importantly, passion. Without passion, there is no real music, no true music, no heartfelt music that hits you where it's important music. In the end, I thanked the seemingly "deaf" crowd and went on my way, with continued passion in my heart.

Blah.....blah blah!
So, this is going to be very short and really has nothing to do with music OR music therapy. Read on, if you are interested. When I was 3 and a half years old...not so long ago, I had surgery on my kidneys and bladder. I was very sick up until then. My mother liked to remind me that she had no social life for the first few years of my life. Sorry mom....damn! Since then I have had a clean bill of health, in that area, aside from a few pains here and there (scar tissue and nerves). Well, this week I got a kidney infection. I knew it was my kidney right away, because of the location of the pain (mid to lower back on the side). I immediately reverted back to being a small child and thought, oh my god, I'm going to die! Of course, did I go to the doctor right away? Hell, no! I wanted to test it out and see if the pain would go away. This couldn't be happening...again, after all of these years! WTFFFF!!!???? Long story short, I finally went to the doctor, did the necessary tests, and came out with an antibiotic. Simple as that. Now, a few days later, I am feeling almost 100%....about 97% if I have to say. So, this is my blog in place of music for this week, because this is where my mind is at. A little history of Music Lizzy Jayne, if you will. Thank you and....curtain.
